Stephen X. Budnicki

Stephen X. Budnicki, 69, of Matawan passed away on March 4, 2023. Stephen had resided in Matawan for the last 20+ years. He was a member of the St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Keansburg, NJ and a lifetime member of the IBOE Local #825A. After his retirement from Silgin Containers in Edison, Stephen continued to enjoy fully saltwater fishing, birding, one of his passions, cooking, wine making and baking his own bread. He was an outdoorsman at heart.
Predeceased by his father, Dr. Xavier B. Budnicki and mother, Ingrid Bergdal. He is survived by his longtime loving fiancé, Karen McCarthy, his brother, Michael J. Budnicki, two sisters, Candace Budnicki Hanna and Patricia Budnicki, nieces Morgan Budnicki Ganley, Veronica Fernandez, Katherine Casciola, his Goddaughter, nephews Andrew Hanna and Frank Casciola, grand-nieces Kelisia Hanna, Audrianna Ganley, Angelica Ganley, Francesca Rose Ganley, grand-nephews Aiden Ganley, Jaxton Fernandez, and Grayden Fernandez along with brothers-in-law Kristopher Ganley and Jonathan Fernandez.
A Viewing will be held on Thursday, March 9th, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Rt. 9, Forked River, NJ 08731. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Friday, March 10 at 9:30 am at St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church, 33 Woodland Rd., Bayville, NJ. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stephen's name may be made to VNA, 23 Main St., Suite D1, Holmdel, NJ 07733.
