Stephen Bayes Christ, 63, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at August Health in Fishersville after suffering a heart attack.
Steve was born on October 19, 1962, in Staunton, to the late James and Margaret Elizabeth Johnson Christ.
Steve lived in the Staunton area a majority of his life where he worked various jobs from the skate rink to lawn care. Steve had the gift of gab, which for some was a good thing and others, well, not so much - hah! He was never one that would shy away or hesitate to strike up a conversation. He always remained a kid at heart and still went trick-or-treating. Steve loved his dogs - especially Stevie and Chop Chop.
He is survived by two brothers, John Edward Christ and William "Bill" James Christ and his wife, Kena Rae; his sister, Catherine "Cathy" Rose Christ and her son, Thomas; as well was numerous cousins; nieces; and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, David and Paul Michael Christ, and a nephew, Michael.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Assisi Hall, the fellowship hall of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton.
Inurnment will occur at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 23, 2026, in the Christ Family lot at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.
