Obituary of Stephen Eugene Civitello Sr.
Stephen Eugene Civitello, 76, of Lakeland, Florida passed away May 20, 2024 peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
He was born on March 30, 1948 in Schenectady, New York to Eugene and Louise Civitello. Stephen graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady, NY in the class of 1966. After graduating, he started an apprenticeship at General Electric, pursuing a career as a machinist which he continued until he retired at the age of 55. He stayed busy during his retirement, working as a teachers aide, where he loved the time he spent with the children. Stephen also served in Vietnam in the Marine Corps from 1968-1971. He was proud to serve his country, and could often be seen wearing his marine hat when he was out.
Stephen was an avid fisherman and hunter and boy was he a great shot. He loved to fish at Lake Champlain in upstate NY but his greatest catch was his wife Sandra!
Stephen was a devoted husband and father. He would always lend a hand or ear to anyone that needed him, even willing to go as far as to give you the shirt right off his back. He had a very special bond with his only grandson, Parker. While their time together was short, it was full of love and laughter.
He was a man of immense humor, honor and filled with love. He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him.
Stephen is survived by: his loving wife of 52 years Sandra Civitello, son Stephen Civitello Jr. (Anne-Marie), grandson Parker Civitello, daughter Stephanie Civitello, sister Carol Shartrand, brothers Thomas Civitello (Ellen) and Eugene Civitello Jr. (Debra), sister in-law's Kathy Tyler and Krista Inman, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
