Stephen Clark Corwin

Stephen Clark Corwin, age 71, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 24, 2022. He was born on February 13, 1951, in Coldwater, MI to Donald and Dorothy (King) Corwin. Coming from many generations of farmers, Stephen learned the value of hard work at an early age, helping his parents build their home and take care of a large farm during his childhood. After graduation from Coldwater High School in 1969, while attending Western Michigan University, Stephen enlisted with the U.S. National Guard, where he served for 7 years. Stephen was a proud University of Michigan Law School graduate and lifelong U of M fan. On July 19, 1975, he married Linda C. Rediess in South Haven, MI. Mr. Corwin served the County of Muskegon, first as a prosecuting attorney, rose to the level of Chief Assistant, and finally, as Corporate Counsel for the County, a position he held for over 20 years. He later opened his own private legal practice, Corwin Law and Consulting, which he operated from 2005 until 2018. Mr. Corwin was actively engaged in his children's formative years, coaching youth baseball, basketball, Boy Scouts, and award-winning Odyssey of the Mind and Destination Imagination teams for many years. Although his professional life came with a great deal of responsibility and challenges, he maintained a tremendously positive and engaging outlook on life and served as an inspiration for family and friends. Stephen enjoyed playing online chess and was a voracious reader of historical novels and biographies. He was a die-hard Detroit sports fan and a lifelong student of history and politics. He enjoyed drives down to Lake Michigan, where he found peace and tranquility, as well as spending time hunting and fishing with his son. He loved spending time with family, especially with his grandson, Michael, the joy of his life. SURVIVORS include his wife of 47 years, Linda; children: Melissa Corwin and Andrew Corwin, both of Muskegon; grandson, Michael Corwin; a brother and two sisters; four sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.
