Frederick Corwin Obituary

Frederick Corwin, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026. Born on May 3, 1930, in Brookline, Massachusetts, Fred lived a long and meaningful life marked by deep love, intellectual curiosity, and quiet accomplishments.

Fred was married for over 50 years to his first wife, Sylvia, who predeceased him. Their partnership was one of great devotion, mutual respect, and love. Together, they raised two daughters, Debbie and Judy, whom Fred loved dearly and was very proud. In his later years, Fred found love again with his wife Sandy, who survived him and was a devoted companion in his final chapter.

Professionally, Fred was an engineer and served proudly in the U.S. Navy. One of the great honors of his career was working on the USS Nautilus, the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine—an achievement that reflected both his technical skill and his deep interest in science and progress.

That same passion carried into his personal life. Fred had a lifelong fascination with the mysteries of the universe and a gift for sharing that wonder with others—especially his grandchildren, to whom he often offered scientific musings in place of traditional bedtime stories.

Fred will be remembered for his warmth, his sense of humor, his optimistic outlook on life, and the wisdom he so generously shared.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Corwin; his daughters, Debbie Weinstein (Mark) and Judy Ankerman (Marc); and his grandchildren, Scott Foster (Maddie), Allison Cherneski (Matt), Jordan Posner (Jacob), Cody Ankerman (Adrianne), and Kelsey Koslen (Dustin). His legacy also lives on in his great-grandchildren: Cece, Max, Sylvie, Henry, Mira and Alfie.

The funeral ceremony with prayers and words of loving memory will be held at The McAuley 275 Steele Road, Building A, Auditorium on Tuesday, February 3rd at 11:30. Shiva will be observed at home of Sandy Corwin, Tuesday, February 3: 7-9 PM, Wednesday, February 4: 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, Thursday, February 5: 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at The McAuley 275 Steele Rd Building B Apartment 408.
