Obituary of Stephen F. Doherty
Stephen F. Doherty, 75, of Duxbury, was called home peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025, after a brief illness surrounded by family. He was the oldest child of the late George F. Doherty Jr. and Marie L Doherty (Burke). He was survived by his beloved sons Ryan Doherty of Berlin, NH and Sean Doherty of Somerset, and his only granddaughter, Riley Doherty, who was the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his sister Susanne "Yazie" Falardeau in 2022. He leaves behind his siblings, Karen Martin of Quincy, Michael Doherty and his wife Nancy of Plymouth and Stacey Doherty of Middleboro, his former wife and mother of his children Suzanne Bregoli (Geary) of Hanson, and Aunt Barbara Doherty of Brockton.
He was the uncle of Bryan Martin of Florida, Stephanie Martin-O'Neill of Norwell, Patrick Doherty of Middleboro, James Doherty of Roslindale, Sarah Cutting of East Bridgewater, MA, and Kevin Doherty of Middleboro, three great nephews Cameron O'Neill, Carter O'Neill, Liam Cutting, great niece Bailey Doherty, as well as many cousins.
He was a Master Plumber and member of Local 12 Union Plumbers and Pipefitters in Boston where he worked on projects like Rowes Warf and the Deer Island Project. He was also a proud Irish bagpiper and Pipe Sergeant for years in the Kevin Barry Pipes and Drums in Malden. He had a great love of all things Martial Arts and studied/competed in Hapkido for years reaching the highest degrees of black belt. In his retirement he enjoyed spending his winters in Hawaii, fishing with his granddaughter Riley, and spending time with his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, 10A.M. February 8, 2025 at Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, Kingston, MA. Followed by graveside service at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
