Stephen Lane Dunks, age 51, of West Portsmouth, passed away on December 19, 2022, at Riverside Hospital. Stephen was born on June 25, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Mary Joann Bowling (Kudla) and Robert Dunks who survives.
Along with his mother, Stephen is preceded in death by his grandmother, Rose Marie Kudla.
Stephen grew up in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to Portsmouth, OH with his grandmother, mother, and brother in 1981. Stephen graduated from Portsmouth West High School in 1989. Upon graduating, Stephen worked at Mitchellace in Portsmouth before beginning a long career with Portsmouth Ambulance as a paramedic.
Stephen is known by his friends, family, and co-workers for his infectious deep belly laugh, sarcastic humor, and through his overall kindness. Stephen was always an ear ready to listen and pass along advice or wisdom to those around him. Stephen loved the Chicago Cubs and the Marvel Universe.
Stephen is survived by two children; a son, Joshua Dunks; a daughter, Stephani Dunks; a fiancé Rebecca Shepherd and her three children, Nicky, Nate, and Katie Shepherd; a brother Jonathan Michael Bowling (Meagan Treece); a half-sister Jennifer Dunks of Springtown, Texas; a half-brother Brian Dunks of Ponder, Texas; a half-brother Steven Batty of Salt Lake City, Utah, his father Robert Dunks of Fortworth, Texas; a beloved Aunt, Linda Bugielski as well as several cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00PM Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com
