Stephen Paul Evanchik

Stephen Paul Evanchik, 73, of Christopher, passed away on Saturday February 18, 2023 at Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mt Vernon. He was born on January 2, 1950 in Christopher, IL to Joe and Mary (Starasta) Evanchik. He is survived by his son Michael Lewis of Corona, CA; one brother Nick Evanchik of Platteville, WI, three nieces Jackie Evanchik, Julie Evanchik and Stephanie Evanchik; one nephew Joseph (Kelsey) Evanchik; one great nephew Joshua Evanchik and close friends Charlie and Heather Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one nephew Nick Evanchik Jr. Steve served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He loved music and played in several bands. He was a drummer and harmonica player and the last band he played in was Farm in 2009. He lived in Dana Point, CA for 22 years and was a Superintendent of a construction company on Catalina Island, CA. Graveside services will be on Saturday February 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery, 5999 State Highway 148, Christopher, IL 62822 with Brother Larry Cook officiating.
