He was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois on January 13,1948, to George Sr and Irene Fifer.
Survived by his wife Barbara (nee Manzke), his children, Stephen (Yoyo) Fifer, Jr., Garrett (Elizabeth) Fifer, Stephanie (Michael) Carroll-Burklow, Julie Fifer Schutt and Michelle Fifer Scott. His grandchildren, Dalton (Julie) Hargrave, Haley, Ashley, and Riley Carroll, Payton Scott, Wyatt, Reagen and Abigail Schutt and Hailey Burklow. Great-grandchildren, Hazel and Roxie Hargrave. His brothers, George Fifer, Jr. and Gary Fifer.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Irene, wife Jeannie Fifer, son-in-law Jeffery Carroll and several other family members.
Steve is a graduate of Tinley Park High School. He worked as an auto mechanic, owning his own business, then working for Frankfort Square Park District before retiring to Florida, where he enjoyed woodworking and hanging out with his beloved dog, Holley.
Steve's passion was music. He played bass guitar for decades with The Ex$pence Account show band, performing with Elvis impersonators all over the world.
Celebration of life on Sunday, June 1, 2025, tentatively 1-5 pm at Brady-Gill Funeral Home, 16600 S. Oak Park Avenue, Tinley Park, IL 60477.
