Stephen Richard Hill

Stephen Richard Hill, age 73, passed away at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah, on January 11, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Steve was born in Ely, Nevada on February 3, 1952. He was the third child, but the only boy, to John Edmund (Ted) Hill and Zelda Pay Hill. He spent his childhood until he left for college, in Ely, Nevada. Steve attended The University of Nevada, Reno where he received a bachelor’s degree. He then graduated from Utah State University with a Masters degree in business. While attending college, his parents moved to Nephi, Utah. After graduating, he followed his parents to Nephi, where he began working at Key Bank in Orem, Utah, as a loan officer. He also worked many places in Nephi such as: Nephi City, Johansson Construction, Taurus Plumbing, Frito Lay, and finally N.R.P. where he retired.

He met Jill Memmott in 1984 and they were married September 27, 1985. Throughout their marriage they were blessed with 3 children: Ashley, Ben, and Alisha. In 2002 Steve and Jill divorced, but remained good friends.

Steve was a proud member of the Nephi riding club for 15 years. He loved to ride his horses Cookie, Doc, and Sadie. He also loved Sophie, the best bird dog ever, and he will be overjoyed to be reunited with his best friend. He taught 4-H and leather crafting. He loved a good fishing day, but what brought him the most joy in his life were his 3 grandchildren: Caleb, Evelyn, and Maddox. He truly was the best Papa!

Steve received his temple endowment in 2012, and attended the temple regularly. He held various positions in the church such as: Sunday School teacher, Meeting house scheduler, and was an elders quorum teacher for 18 years. He loved participating in the church choir, cleaning the building, and helping the ward members with anything they needed.

Steve is survived by his children, Ashley (Chris) Mensah, Ben Hill, and Alisha Embleton, grandchildren Caleb, Evelyn, and Maddox, and sister Judy Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Zelda, his sister Marilyn and her husband Howard Ford, and Al Jones (brother-in-law).

Funeral Services:

A viewing will be held Monday, January 19, 2026 from 10 to 11 AM at the Nephi Stake Center, 351 N 100 W, Nephi, Utah. Funeral services will begin at 11 to 12. Interment to follow at Vine Bluff Cemetery, 1240 N 400 E in Nephi.

As a family we want to send a sincere thank you to all who reached out and offered help and concern. To the Staff at CVMC, the Ambulance crew, and the Amazing ICU staff @ Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah who took such good care of him during his final days. We would also like to give an extra special thank you to Julie Parkin for the extended care we appreciate you more than you will ever know!
