Stephen D. “Hootie” Hough, 49, of Carnegie, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 23, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife, Julia, and several cherished friends.
He was born February 21, 1974, the son of Gary and Patricia (Riley) Hough of Beloit, Ohio. Steve graduated from West Branch High School in 1992. He later attended Pittsburgh Filmmakers' at Point Park College.
Steve and Julia (Moyer) Hough were married on June 16, 2012 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, New York, with Father James Vacco officiating. They celebrated eleven years of marriage this summer. Through the years, Steve and Julia traveled to their favorite destinations like Disney World, Anguilla, and the Outer Banks; rooted their family in a tight community of friendships; and welcomed their two children to the world, Ella (10) and Liam (6).
Steve worked in both Locations and Transportation in the film industry for 25 years. Known as Hootie to his many friends and co-workers, he was always there for a supportive conversation on a tough day and ready for a laugh or an inside joke. His colleagues knew they could depend on Hootie.
Everyone who knew Steve could see that his sometimes gruff exterior contained a big teddy bear with an extremely kind heart. He was easy-going and always ready to lend an ear. It was obvious to all how much he loved his wife and children. He worked hard and he played hard. His sense of humor drew people to him. In addition to traveling with his family, Steve enjoyed exploring unique restaurants, breweries and distilleries.
Remaining to cherish Steve’s memory are Julia, Ella, and Liam; parents, Gary and Patricia; sister, Susan (Kris) Anstine-Barr; in-laws, Ken and Sylvia Moyer, brother-in-law Ken (Laurie) Moyer; sister-in-law, Lori (Damon) MacArthur; nieces and nephews; and longtime friends, Bruno and Jennifer Manypenny, and Dominic Mecchia.
Preceding Steve in death are his maternal grandparents, Charles and Dorthy (Malmsberry) Riley; paternal grandparents, Edwin and Dorothy (Stevens) Hough; and his aunt, Lonna (Hough) Firl.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 4:00 at William Slater II Funeral Service at 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp., 15220. Dress is casual, as Steve would want.
