With great sadness, we announce the passing of Stephen Paul Jette, a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Born on June 23, 1955, in
Springfield, Massachusetts, he spent his entire life in the city he called home, always surrounded by the people he loved.
He was the son of Marilyn (Lassonde) Jette of Springfield, and the late Raymond L. Jette. He leaves his two children, Tim Jette and his wife Kylie Jette, and Christine Jette both of VA; his five cherished grandchildren, JJ, Katrina, Jerimiah, Alex, and Jason, who will carry on his memory and the lessons he never hesitated to share. He also leaves his sister, Barbara Sirard and her husband Albert of Middlefield, MA. Stephen is now reunited with his late siblings, Wayne Jette, Mike Jette, and Theresa Bellefeuille.
If you knew him, you knew he was never one to keep his thoughts to himself. He believed in saying exactly what was on his mindoften with a well-placed lecture for anyone who would listen (and even those who wouldnt). And while he may not have always lived up to his own lessons right away, he made sure others didnt make the same mistakes he did. More than just words, his actions later in life showed his commitment to growth, responsibility, and doing right by those around him. He was known for his subtle but meaningful kindness, always finding little ways to help those who needed it, whether they asked for it or not. He had a love for building things, from home projects to the magical Christmas displays he worked tirelessly on each year. And while he could be serious when the moment called for it, he had a sharp sense of humor and loved to poke a little fun at the people around himnever out of meanness, but always out of love. Stephen was also a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, proudly cheering on his teams through every season. Whether it was watching a game with family or debating plays and decisions, his love for sports was undeniable. Above all, he was a man who believed in taking responsibility. He was never afraid to admit when he was wrong, and he made sure to make things right in the little ways that truly mattered. His love for his family, his strong opinions, his lectures, and his unwavering generosity will never be forgotten.
His wake will be held on Tuesday, February 4th from 10 11 AM followed by a funeral home service at 11:00 AM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. Rites of Committal services will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Tinkham Road, Springfield.
