Steve was born on August 23, 1947, in Denver, Colorado to Bob and Laurene Kenney. He was the brother of Andrew, Dianne, & Suzanne. He married Maryann Ives on July 15, 1972. They had two daughters. Kathleen Marie (Ted) Zeiger of Denver, CO, and two grandchildren, Eliana and Mateo. Also, Kristine Ann (Joe) Kenney-Sams of Page, AZ, and a grandson Cooper.

Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church – 4377 Utica St, Denver, CO 80212- on Friday, June 21st at 10:00 am with a reception following the service.

Steve attended Regis Jesuit High School. He then attended Mesa College, where he met the love of his life Maryann. After graduation, he continued his studies at CSU graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Mathematics. He worked in the oil and gas industry for several years. In 1995 he received a distinguished service award from the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists.

Steve and Maryann honeymooned in Marble, CO. They spent much of their early time together camping, hiking, and fishing all over Colorado. Another of the happiest times of his life involved waking up to 3 inches of snow in July at Rocky Mountain National Park with Maryann, on their anniversary. They shared fifty-two years of a strong, happy marriage.

Steve was a caring individual who was always there for his family and friends. He was a loving son, a supportive big brother, a devoted father, and a caring grandfather. Steve loved his family and friends through life’s joys and life’s tragedies. He struggled through many health issues yet maintained strength and dignity through it all.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists or National Jewish Hospital.
