Stephen was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Annie Kottler and his first wife Jane Weed.
He is survived by his wife Maura Murphy, siblings: George Kottler of Miami, FL., Susan Kottler and Stephen Shestakofsky of Belmont, MA., Jay Weed of Key West, FL., nephews: Nick, Ben and Jon Shestakofsky and their families.

Rest in peace, dear Kottler. Friend to many and fearless in sharing your affections, you leave a mark on this world.
A Mainer through and through, growing up into a quirky yet bountiful intellect.
A lawyer who loved the law itself far more than its practice. A healer who loved the practice of homeopathy even more than the law.
A sucker for animals, Volkswagens, wry humor, a good meal, well-built old houses, libraries (LPL above all), authentic and old guy blues singers (always shared with others), the "Damariscotta Girls," road trips, postcard messages, the backside of politics where actions make a difference, the importance of guys really talking, books and more books, and being present with others.
You blazed through the lives of those of us who were lucky enough to know you. Thank you, dear friend.
The world is quieter without you.
