Stephen Joseph Lenart, aged 72, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024, in Rhode Island after a period of declining health. He was born on November 4, 1951, in Trafford, Pennsylvania, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Smith) Lenart.
Stephen was the loving husband of Margaret (Labish) Lenart, and together they built a life filled with joy and purpose while living in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. He was a devoted father to his son, Aaron Lenart, and his wife, Breonna, of Uxbridge, Massachusetts. In 2021 he moved to Woonsocket, Rhode Island to continue his role as a grandfather to Benjamin, Amelia, and Henry, one of his greatest joys.
He is survived by his siblings, Bernard Lenart and his wife Kathleen of Trafford, Pennsylvania, and Mary Patricia (Lenart) Povirk and her husband Robert of Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Stephen's professional life was marked by his dedication and skill. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1974, he embarked on a career that would see him contribute significantly to the industry. He worked for the US Bureau of Mines in Pennsylvania, where he honed his expertise. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Oakwood Construction, a private home building association, through which he became a respected self-employed homebuilder, leaving his mark on countless homes and communities.
Beyond his professional achievements, Stephen had a rich and diverse array of interests that reflected his passion for life. An avid camper and forager, he found solace and joy in the great outdoors. Ocracoke Island, NC was one of his favorite vacation spots. His love for sports was unwavering, and he was particularly devoted to watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. A highlight of his sporting life was his induction into the Penn Trafford Warrior Football Hall of Fame for his role in the perfect 9-0 season in 1968.
Stephen's talents extended to wine making, woodworking, music, and reading, each hobby a reflection of his multifaceted personality. He volunteered his time at the Elks Lodge #2249 in Cranberry, Pennsylvania and was a cub scout co-leader for Den#5, Pack 179. Steve and Margie sponsored many children of other countries through World Vision providing them and their communities with education, job training, medical and spiritual care. His faith was a guiding force in his life. When living in Pennsylvania, Steve was a member of Tetelestai Church. He was deeply committed to spreading the Gospel, a testament to his strong spiritual convictions.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one come to the Father but through Me." John 14:6.
