Stephen Leshinski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley Funeral Home - Marlton on Nov. 15, 2024.
STEPHEN J. LESHINSKI
Voorhees, NJ
Stephen J. Leshinski passed away on November 13, 2024. He was 82 years old. Steve was the beloved husband of Alice (nee
Osgood), loving father of Stephen (wife Lisa) and Edward Leshinski. He was the proud grandfather of Madelyn and Maya
and "Uncle Steve" to many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother Edward.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Steve grew up playing basketball on the ultra-competitive school yard courts in the area neighborhoods - once playing against future Basketball Hall of Famer Connie Hawkins in a two-on-two pickup game. His team did not win.
After earning degrees from City College on New York and Indiana University, Steve embarked on a successful career as an economist for Royal Dutch Shell and then the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Steve was working in the North Tower of the World Trade Center in February 1993 and survived the first terrorist attack of that building.
Steve's final few years of his professional career were spent in the non-profit sector with Birch Family Services, assisting individuals with autism and developmental disabilities and their families in New York City.
Steve was a supportive and encouraging father who would never let either of his sons get too down in life when bad things happened or get too ahead of themselves when good things occurred. He taught his sons how to keep life situations in perspective and to always stay focused on what is right, what is fair, and what is true.
A tremendous and dedicated sports fan, Steve was a passionate New York Giants, Yankees, and Knicks fan. He attended
numerous basketball games at Madison Square Garden and has been to both baseball and football games at the old Yankee
Stadium, baseball games at the new Yankee Stadium, the Polo Grounds, Ebbets Field, and Shea Stadium. He was an authentic
New York sports fan!
With a sharp and sarcastic sense of humor, along with a wealth of knowledge about history, politics, and world events, there was no better guy than Steve to have a beer with while watching a game at home or a Manhattan cocktail with while at an upscale bar.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Saturday from 10:30 AM – 12:00 Noon at the Bradley Funeral Home, Marlton, NJ.
