Stephen Herbert Lundin, aged 74, passed away May 7, 2025, at his home in Maple Valley, WA. Born on September 16, 1950, in Yokosuka City, Japan, Steve experienced a global childhood due to his father's service in the U.S. Navy. He lived in Japan, the Philippines, and Germany before his family settled in Maryland. Stephen grew into a man admired for his intelligence, humor, kindness, and creativity.
Stephen graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in aerospace engineering, after which he began his 37 year career at The Boeing Company.
After retirement he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Because of a selfless anonymous donor, Steve received a lifesaving lung transplant April 24, 2018. With this second chance he was able to travel, complete many projects and be present to welcome numerous great nephews and a niece to the family.
Outside of his professional life, Stephen enjoyed watching professional football and college basketball. He cherished nature and was an avid snorkeler. He loved reading, especially science fiction and mysteries. Stephen also enjoyed the simple pleasures of a local beer on tap or a good bourbon in the company of family and friends. He was the best father, husband and friend.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Sara; his brother, John Lundin and sister-in-law, Candice; and his sister, Nancy Moore and brother-in-law, Heber and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Lundin, and his beloved only child, Jamie Rose Lundin.
In lieu of a memorial service, those who wish to honor Stephen's memory are encouraged to become an organ donor, donate to organizations close to his heart: the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation; Life Center Northwest; Special Olympics Washington; Maple Valley Food Bank or contribute to their own favorite charity.
