Stephen Ashley Mayhew, 77 of Glasgow, Ky, passed away on February 14, 2024 at Glenview Health and Rehab Center.  Born June 21, 1946, he was the son of the late John W. and Marjorie D. Mayhew of Scottsville, KY.

Steve was a 1964 graduate of Scottsville High School where he played basketball and baseball for the “Pointers”.  He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Scottsville First United Methodist Church.

Steve was a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where he earned BS, MA and Rank 1 degrees.  His career as an educator was spent with the Glasgow Independent School System.  Positions there included middle school science teacher, high school assistant principal and elementary principal.  At the time of his retirement, he was serving as a coordinator of federal programs.  Steve’s goal was always to make school an enjoyable place where students could thrive and be successful.  He will also be remembered as an avid outdoorsman and skilled craftsman of fishing lures and game calls.

Steve is survived by his wife of 55 years, Suzanne Lyles Mayhew; two sons, Dr. Ashley Mayhew (Cara) of Glasgow and Wesley Mayhew (Nicole) of Connecticut; five grandsons, Tristin (Auna), Landon, Aiden, Aaron, Corey and great-grandsons, Houston and soon to be born Stephen B. Mayhew.  Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Steve Lyles (Nancy) of Alabama, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2024 at T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial at Crescent Hill Cemetery.
