Stephen Lewis McKinley, loving father and brother, 75 years old of Porter, Texas passed away on August 9, 2025, of natural causes, close to loving family.
Stephen (Steve) was born on October 23, 1949 in Birmingham, Alabama, the first child of James and Margaret (Drawhorn) McKinley.
He attended Marion Military Institute (a member of the rifle team) from 1967 to 1969, later going on to join the United States Army in 1970, and served until honorably discharged in 1976.
Steve was married to Theda Scroggin m. 1971 (div.) and later to Lisa Nelson m. 1986 (div.) with whom he shared his two sons.
Steve worked as a draftsman and designer at Hazen and Sawyer in Florida, and later, Pate Engineers and LJA Engineering, in Texas, where he designed municipal water production and water quality systems, retiring in 2018.
Steve enjoyed many hobbies throughout his lifetime including: fishing, shooting, scuba diving, and all things sports cars. He was a man of strong Christian faith and especially enjoyed visiting, talking with, and spending time with his family.
Remaining to cherish Steve's memory are his sons James McKinley and his fiancée Kendall Sahm, William McKinley and his wife Karyn, his brothers David McKinley and Timothy McKinley, and nieces Christina Payne, Tiffany Zorn, and Ashlie Cassidy. Preceding Steve in death are his parents James and Margaret McKinley, and best friend Bud Montgomery.
There will be a Memorial Service for friends and family on September 12th followed by a burial service at Rosewood in Humble, TX.
