Stephen Richard Mitchell

Stephen Richard Mitchell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 15th, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on April 9th, 1954, Steve was a cherished resident of Blakely, GA, previous resident of Albany GA, where he spent many years surrounded by family and friends.

Steve dedicated his career to the auto auction industry, where he was known as a skilled and respected Ring Man. His work was not just a job but a passion that connected him with countless individuals over the years.

Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Irene Mitchell, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He leaves behind his loving children, Shelley Ann Mitchell and her husband Dorian Dirk Dehnel of Raleigh, NC, and Christopher Stephen Mitchell of Marietta, GA. Steve was a proud grandfather to Annalise Harper Dehnel, Shiar MaKenna Dehnel, Holden Everett Mitchell, and Margo Evelyn Mitchell, who brought immense joy to his life.

He is also survived by his sister, LaJuana Peterson of Albany, GA, and his nephew, Paul Peterson, along with many cousins who will miss him dearly. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Shelton Otis Mitchell and Illean Robarts Mitchell, and his brother, Alfred Lesko.

A funeral service to honor Steve's life will be held at Blakely First Methodist Church in Blakely, GA, on Monday, May 19th, 2025, at 11:00 am, officiated by Rev. Tucker Lewis. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in White Springs, FL, on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Blakely First Methodist Church Building Fund, a cause close to Steve's heart: 397 College Street, Blakely, GA.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, who have provided compassionate care during this difficult time.

Stephen Richard Mitchell will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
