Stephen Randol Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 10, 2025.
Stephen Lloyd Randol, a resident of Clark County, Washington, for over 80 years, traded his decaying cancer body for his glorious heavenly body on June 15th, 2025, at 6:30 PM. He was born on February 23, 1945, to Lloyd AKA Russell and Rose Randol in Vanport, Oregon. He graduated from Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, Washington, in 1964. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1965, serving on the USS Mars in open water during the Vietnam War. He married Georgia (Carletha) Clark in 1972 and then pursued a degree in mathematics at Clark College. Steve worked as a mechanical drafter for 35 years and retired in March 2012. After retiring, he helped raise his granddaughter, volunteered at Northcrest Community church where he was a member for 25 years, played golf, and took a part-time job working alongside his wife as a kitchen cleaner. In the last few years of his life, he played pinochle, put puzzles together, and teased his medical team as they helped him fight his cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Georgia, of Vancouver, Washington; two daughters, Dawn Deskins of Vancouver, Washington, and Rosemary Randol of Lynnwood, Washington; his granddaughter, Zayley Deskins of Vancouver, Washington; one stepdaughter, Lynda (Mike) Ralston, as well as his step-grandchildren, Jessica (James), Brittany, and Michael (Sam), and four step-great-grandchildren all of Lynnwood, Washington; and stepson, John Clark, of Everett, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jim, John, Ed, and Tom.

A celebration of his life will be held at Northcrest Community Church, located at 5602 E. Mill Plain Blvd. Vancouver, Washington, 98661 on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM.

Steve ( Zayley's grandpa to us). Was another grandpa to Kiana. He was a guardian to the girls, between him and Georgia and Dawn, they made their home a home away from home for Kiana my daughter. Dawn and him setting up the pool, the trampoline. Kiana has known Zayley since she was 4 years old. This family has been kind to us and shared many happy memories with us. Birthdays, Christmas lights, 4TH of July parties... I bonded with Steve over the military a little and am thankful for his service to our country. I see what a talented man he was through Draw's stories, and some from the letter's dropped here and from his granddaughter. He was a provider, Father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend. See you in heaven Steve. You are not lost, just going to be very missed.
Love from the Caffery's

I remember when me and Zayley used to ride our bikes in the cul-de-sac and Steve would be kind enough to watch us while we had fun. He was always so polite and fun to be around

Thanks Dawn for letting me know about Steve. Georgia I haven´t seen you and Steve for a number of years. The last time was at one of our reunions. And out of the corner of my eye I see Steve walking towards me. He gives me a hug and it just reminded me about being friends all these years. I didn´t know that Steve served off the coast of Vietnam aboard ship in the U S Navy. I also was Navy and served with the 9th Seabee Battalion 1967-68. And golf I didn´t know Steve played. Looking back at it, I wished I had known. I would have called him and we could have played a game or two with some other Spudders. I hope to be at services for Steve. Sincerely Terry

I only met my second cousin in person once, but we kept in touch over the years. We talked about our families, our jobs, and whatever else came up. He was such a joy to talk to. We should have had zoom calls. I will miss our talks. I will continue to keep in touch. The photos were taken at my 1990 visit. Until we meet again.
