Stephen King "Steve" Sackley

Stephen King Sackley, 79, passed away peacefully in Downers Grove, IL on October 31 st. Born in Evanston, IL on January 24, 1946, to Lorraine and Donald Sackley, he was the middle child of three boys (brothers Don Jr. and Jack). Steve was a 1964 graduate of Loyola Academy in Wilmette, where his track & field prowess paved the way for his acceptance into the University of Notre Dame. After graduating with a business degree in 1968, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves before marrying Margaret Dillon, in 1973. Settling in Lake Forest, the couple raised their three sons Patrick (Ashley), Christopher (Kimberly), and Zachary (Pamela).

Steve loved his family & close friends, his dogs, the game of golf, a manual transmission so he could "spin the tires," and the Fighting Irish. He didn't like long homilies, poorly placed bunkers on the golf course, or restaurants that didn't serve Jack Daniels. In addition to his former wife and three sons, as well as younger brother, Jack, Steve is survived by eight grandchildren; Emily, Graham, Declan, Dillon, Frederick, Riley, Camila, and Nathan.

A private memorial Mass and interment will be celebrated. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Western Golf Association/Evans Scholars Foundation: Evans Scholars Memorial Gifts
