Shirley Sackley Obituary

Shirley M. Sackley, born May 4, 1928, left this life on July 17, 2024. She was proud to serve in the Marine Reserves during WWII. She attended DePaul University in Chicago, was a loving wife to her husband, Rigney J. Sackley Jr., for 64 years who preceded her in death in February 2016. Born and raised in the Chicago area, spent childhood summers in Redgranite, Berlin and Crystal Lake, WI. She had also resided in Solano Beach, CA, Lakewood and Evergreen, CO. She was a taste tester and executive secretary for Sara Lee and an executive secretary for multiple law firms for many years.  After moving to Solano Beach, CA, she continued as an executive secretary for another law firm and then became a private secretary to her husband who was district manager over 4 states for G.D. Searle. She loved to knit and do needlework, was a member of the Shirley Club, loved reading, travel, music and Jazzercise. Shirley will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In her memory, please send donations to St. Francis Mission, PO Box 149, St. Francis, SD 57572-0149.  A private ceremony will be planned at Ft. Logan National Cemetery next to her husband in Denver, CO.
