Stephen Sednek Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home and Fairview Cemetery on Feb. 4, 2026.
Stephen Francis Sednek passed away peacefully but unexpectedly in his home in Poncha Springs, Co on January 26th, 2026. He was born July 17th, 1951, in Rushville Indiana and graduated from RCHS in 1970. Steve served in the US Army and was stationed in Vietnam. Steve was the best storyteller, captivating both children and adults! One might never know the truth or exaggeration to make for the best story! He enjoyed working on his cabin, tending his garden and "traveling in Gods light". He was a chef! He loved to cook and make recipes with ingredients from his garden. He was a true mountain man at heart, dressed in animal skins and carrying a staff topped with stones and jewels he found on his many journeys. He always made it to family functions even though it meant hitchhiking across the US! Steve is survived by his children, Dana (Greg) of Co, Stephen Sednek, IN, Nick Sednek VA, Mathew (Kara) Campbell of CO and Laura Campbell of IN. He has three grandchildren; Berkeley and Noah (Dana) and Mia (Matthew) He was survived by two brothers, Mike (Carol) Sednek of Co, Johan (Elaine) Sednek; eight sisters, Alice (Bruce) Dice of CO, Mary Wilson of IN, Margaret (David) Smith of IN, Amy (Jeff) Ruxer of IN, Tracy (Cy) of IN, Nannette (Tom) of FL, Marcia Sednek of NM and Anita Jo Sednek of NM; and several nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents William and Kathryn Sednek, a brother Tom Sednek and sisters, Judy Schmidt, Joan McLaughlin, Becky Newkirk and Tina Sednek. A private memorial to honor his life will take place in the mountains of CO in the spring/summer of 2026. Memorial contributions can be made to the National Park Foundation (NPF) or Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA). On line condolences may be sent to the family at lewisandglenn.com. Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
