Stephen K. "Steve" Shearer

Stephen K. Shearer, 60, youngest son of Richard and Catherine Shearer passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 1:05 pm. God arranged his peaceful passing calling him home from the Linda E. White Hospice Center.
Steve suffered from acute kidney and liver failure. Steve was born in Altoona Hospital in Pennsylvania on October 22, 1963. He graduated from Central High School in 1982 and earned his business degree from Ivy Tech in 1992. Steve honorably served in the United States Navy from 1983-1987. He served aboard the USS Simon Lake Tender and was stationed in Holy Loch, Scotland. Steve enjoyed numerous positions during his employment years and he was most proud and happy to be employed at Berry Plastics at the 57 and Kansas location as an evening quality control manager. He loved faithfully, fought vigorously and did everything he could to stay with the people he cared about. He will be deeply missed.
Steve is survived by his parents, Richard and Catherine of Evansville, IN; brother, Robert Shearer of Evansville, IN; his beloved wife, Karen Shearer of Evansville, IN. In addition he was uncle and great uncle and had numerous cousins in Indiana, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Steve was preceded in death by his son, Ryan in 2007 and by his brothers, Richard "Chip" in 1978 and James in 2023.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Rd., Evansville, IN 47710 with Father Jason Gries celebrating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Friends may visit from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711. The Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military honors at 3:30 pm. There will be a prayer service held at 6:00 pm with Deacon Tom Cervone presiding.
