Stephen Francis "Steve" Stefely

Stephen Francis Stefely, 92 years old, of Elmhurst peacefully passed away on October 16, 2025. Stephen was the devoted husband to Helen Ann (nee Walsh). Beloved brother of Mary Ciliak and to the late Helen Tartol, George Stefely and Theresa Benedict. Loving father of Jim (Carolyn) and Tom (Beckie) Stefely. Cherished grandfather to Benjamin (Loretta) Stefely, Jamie (Kevin) Casey, Jessica (Alex) King, Jonathan (Erin) Stefely, Kathleen (Sean) Hoeppner, Elizabeth (Jeff) O'Keefe and Matthew Stefely. Adoring great grandfather to Bauer, Sloan, Sutton, Thomas, Arnold, Addison, Tatum, Theo, Clare, Drew, Phin, Brookelyn and Brody.

Steve enjoyed racquetball, fishing, and chocolate in any form. Helen and Steve were longtime parishioners of Visitation Church in Elmhurst, IL. He was a hard worker who built a profitable company from the ground up and was passionate about the people he worked with. Steve loved traveling with Helen, his children and grandchildren. His travels included Egypt, Europe, the Netherlands, Korea, New Zealand, Japan, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean Island and most of North America. Weeks before his passing, he was tossing a ball back and forth from his hospital bed with his great grandchildren. His grandchildren and great grandchildren always brought a smile to his face!

A visitation for Steve will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025 from 3:00pm-8:00pm at Cappetta's West Suburban Funeral Home, 4920 Main St., Downers Grove, IL 60515. Chapel services & closing prayers at the funeral home are to commence at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be at Saint Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church, 101 W. Loop Rd., Wheaton, IL 60189, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 10:00am. Friends and family are asked to all gather directly at church Tuesday morning.
