Obituary of Stephen T. Susman

July 23, 1935 – March 7, 2026

Steve Susman, Denver; Husband of Fran Susman; Father of Gary (Renee) Susman and Julie Lichtman; Brother of Dr. Morris (Ellen) Susman; Steve graduated in 1953 as valedictorian of his Denver East High School class; then from Harvard College and Harvard Law School. In lieu of the 1960 draft, he enlisted in the Marine Corps as a private – a humbling experience, he wryly noted. While practicing law in Denver for 27 years, Steve served as president, director, or trustee of many civic organizations. Thereafter, he founded and operated Rent-A-Cheap Heap, a jalopy car rental business, catering to a risky niche of the market. After ten years, enduring an armed holdup, and retrieving his overdue cars from dark trailer parks in the dead of night, Steve retired. He and Fran then traveled extensively throughout the world.
