Stephen A. Swart

Stephen E. Swart, age 76, of Gloversville, New York, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Albany Medical Center, with his family at his side.

He was born on September 20, 1949, in Gloversville, New York, son of the late Ivan Simonds and Elizabeth Beekman Simonds.

Stephen was predeceased by his beloved spouse, Judith Swart, whom he married on September 13, 1969, and who passed away on April 27, 2021. Together, they built a family that became the center of Stephen's world, and he took great pride in each generation that followed.

He is survived by his children, Jeffrey Swart (Christie), Stephen Swart (Mary), and Chris Swart; brothers, Kirk, Burt, Randy, and Ivan "Skip" Simonds; sisters, Nancy, Donna, Phyllis, and Kim; grandchildren, Meghan Sunderland, Khristen Bass, Marissa Swart, and Gavin Swart; great grandchildren, Sawyer Bass, Olivia Bass, Rilyn Sunderland, and Remi Sunderland. His family was the greatest joy of his life, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with them, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved more than anything.

Stephen enjoyed the outdoors and found peace and happiness in hunting and fishing. These pastimes were more than hobbies to him, as they reflected his love of nature, patience, and the quiet moments that brought him contentment. Whether he was spending time outside or sharing stories with those he loved, Stephen had a way of making ordinary days feel special.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
