Stephen Swierczek Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Stephen (Steve) F Swierczek, 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Marcellus, NY on September 1, 2025. He was born June 10, 1958 in New Hartford, NY, son of the late Helen and Stephen H Swierczek.
Steve grew up in Camillus, NY and was a proud graduate of West Genesee High School. It was there he met his love of over 50 years, Pamella. They were married on August 14, 1982 and together raised three children, Stephen, Suzanne, and Bryan.
Through his decades of service working as a Respiratory Therapist, a Hospital Administrator, and as a volunteer Firefighter and EMT, Steve touched the lives of many throughout his community. He was truly an all-around great guy who would never hesitate to help anyone in need.
Steve had many passions - some of which include classic cars (specifically '62 GTOs), cooking and baking (we will all miss his chocolate chip cookies!), landscaping, fishing, and always enjoyed a good round of golf. He had a love for music and, as an avid drummer, always looked forward to reuniting for the West Genesee alumni parades and watching drum corps competitions. Steve was also a big sports fan and often could be found cheering on his favorite hockey (Go Rangers and Crunch!) and baseball teams (Go Yankees!).
Above all else, Steve loved his family. He was so proud of all of his children's accomplishments and was always there to support them. Throughout their childhoods, Steve was at every game and concert, often with a camera in hand. Even into adulthood, his children were always able to come back home for advice or a helping hand from dad. Steve also loved being a grandfather. Being able to make his grandson, Rowen, laugh brought him so much joy. He was so excited to be welcoming another grandson, Stephen, later this year.
Steve was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Stephen H Swierczek, and sister, Christine Licamele. He is survived by his wife, Pamella; children, Stephen (Katelin) Swierczek of Camillus, Suzanne (Christopher) Rurkowski of Durham, NC, and Bryan (Catie) Swierczek of Baldwinsville; grandson, Rowen Swierczek; and several nieces and nephews. Steve will be deeply missed by his entire family and the many groups of friends he made over the years.
158 days until pitchers and catchers report!
Calling hours will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Whelan Bros & Hulchanski Funeral Home in Syracuse. Yesterday

I was fortunate to have worked closely with Steve for many years at SJH. He worked tirelessly to care for our patients and staff. Despite his many responsibilities, he always had time for a quick chat about his kids exploits, Yankee baseball or local sports. Just a real genuine person with a ready smile and empathetic heart. It was a true pleasure to have known Steve and he will be sorely missed.

Steve was a great guy, always smiling and proud of his family.
He was at every Solvay Bearcats game watching his son Steven play.
I loved seeing him and son Steven at the Syracuse Crunch games.
He will be missed by many that knew him.
My condolences to Pamella the family.
