Stephen "Steve" Theodore White, 76, of Olanta, South Carolina, departed from this world on July 3, 2025.
Born on September 14, 1948, to the late Harold Reaves White, Sr. and Vide Rebecca Kirby White, Steve was a proud Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Air Force. After his years of service, he spent many dedicated decades working for Thompson Oil and Gas Company before retiring. Steve was a member of the Lynchburg American Legion Post.
He enjoyed the peace of the outdoors and found joy in fishing and golf. In his younger years, he played baseball in high school and never lost his love for the game. What truly set Steve apart, and what so many will always remember, was his legendary BBQ. It was famous throughout South Carolina, and many would say it was the best they’d ever tasted.
Steve was a simple man with a strong heart and a deep love for his family. He is survived by his son, Stephen Eric White (Andrea), and his daughters, Jennifer Hunt (Andrew) and Heather White (Robbie), all of Olanta, SC. He also leaves behind eight awesome grandchildren—Natalie (Hunter), Brantlee, Connor, Hayden, Rylan, Braylon, Gavin, and Kaitlynn—who brought him endless joy and pride. His two beloved boxers, Thor and Sampson, were always faithfully by his side. Steve is also survived by two brothers, Jerry White (Ann) and Harold R. White, Jr. (Paula) both of North Carolina; and three sisters, Betty Ann Coker of Camden, June Harrelson (John) of Lexington, and Brenda Perkins (Bucky) of Darlington.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Phillip Coker.
A Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors will be held 3pm on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in the Olanta Baptist Church with Rev. Myers Graham officiating.
The family will have a visitation from 2 - 3pm on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in the Olanta Baptist Church Sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Olanta Baptist Church, P.O. Box 188, Olanta, SC 29114.
Steve was a hardworking, outgoing man with a big personality and a bigger heart. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the stories he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
