Stephen E. Whiteaker
1956 – 2025
Stephen "Steve" Edward Whiteaker, 69, of Cameron, Missouri, passed away on October 15, 2025, after a short, courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born August 30, 1956, in Cameron, Missouri, to John T. and Sue A. (Roberts) Whiteaker. He was a 1974 graduate of Cameron High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1974-1977.
Steve was a jack of all trades and the first to lend a hand to anyone in need. A proud veteran and a man of deep faith, he loved the Lord and lived his life with kindness, generosity, and humility. Family was everything to him. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved, especially while fishing or simply being together.
He married Denise Huffman on January 8, 2010, in a small ceremony, surrounded by those they loved the most.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Stephen, in 1992, and niece, Chelsey Borchardt and nephew, Tucker Borchardt, in 2012.
Steve is survived by his wife, Denise of the home; siblings Bill (Debbie) Whiteaker, Cameron, Cheryl Balke, Cameron, Randy (Liz) Whiteaker, Warsaw, MO, Jim "Tuck" Whiteaker, Cameron, and Dan Whiteaker, Cameron; four stepsons, Charlie Huffman, Jamesport, MO, Mitch (Stephanie) Huffman, Maysville, MO, Paul (Shyanne) Huffman, Braymer, MO, and Aric (Jennifer) Huffman, Weatherby, MO; sixteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northwest Missouri UTV Patriot Riders, as watching their annual event was one of Steve's favorite traditions each year.
Services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2025. The family will receive friends at 11:00 am -12:00 pm. Prayer service 12:00 pm with military honors immediately following at Poland-Thompson Chapel.
