Stevie Junior Barner, age 69, of Kendallville, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Waters of LaGrange. Steve was born in Dresden, Tennessee, on July 27, 1955, to the late Louis Chapel Barner and Mary Lou (Snider) Barner. Steve honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1976-1988. He was employed as track maintenance on the railroad and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2749 in Kendallville. Steve married Darlene Denise Mills on December 23, 1991, in Blytheville, Arkansas. Darlene preceded him in death on October 11, 2019.
Survivors include:
Daughter, Kimberly and George Norden of Kendallville.
Son, Colton Barner of Kendallville.
Son, Jacob and Alyssa Barner of Kendallville.
Daughter, Lisa and Reuben Garcia of Tennessee.
Seven grandchildren: Nicholas Norden, Kaitlynn Norden, Allison Norden, Naomi Barner, Bianca Garcia, Amalia Garcia, and Alexander Garcia; also, one great grandchild, Ezra Garcia.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Darlene; one brother, Michael Barner; and two sisters, Kathy Childress and Patricia Durham.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with Pastor Earl Bolen will officiating the service.
Burial with military honors will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
