It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Gustave Blomquist, who passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on March 1, 2025, at 1:50 pm. Steven was born in Richfield, on June 5, 1938, and lived a life full of adventure, service, and love for his family and community. 

Steven’s early years were marked by his dedication to both his faith and his family. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden, where all four of his brothers also served. While in Sweden, he forged lifelong connections and exemplified the values of service and compassion. On November 24, 1961, he married the love of his life, Viola Mae Gledhill, and together they raised three wonderful children: Mark, Kevin, and Shanna. Steven was a devoted husband and father, cherishing every moment with his family. 

Throughout his life, Steven was an entrepreneur and adventurer. After attending the University of Utah, he worked for his brother Phillip and began a diverse career that spanned several industries. He owned an ice house and gas station, operated a fly shop in West Yellowstone, Montana, and worked as a guide for snowmobiling tours. Steven later moved to Billings, Montana, and then Livingston, Montana, where he ran an Amoco gas station. He eventually moved to Cathedral City, California where he owned a Union 76 station and a Mobile station in Palm Springs, California. His brother, Alan ran a Shell Oil station nearby. Together they worked alongside one another for years. While in California, Steven was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, first counselor in the bishopric and built meaningful relationships with his fellow church members. 

Steven and his family moved to Gardiner, Montana where he owned a Chevron station, wrecker service, and tire and shock business. He also built a pizza place and owned the Gardiner Movie Theater. After returning to Richfield, Steven continued his entrepreneurial ventures, running a Midas Muffler shop, and later, three Subway sandwich shops. He was known for his hard work and perseverance in all his endeavors. 

A passionate aviation enthusiast, Steven had a love for flying. He owned and flew a Mooney, a Cherokee, and a Cessna 182, as well as a Cessna 140. He rebuilt a Stinson Voyager Station Wagon and spent countless hours in the skies. In Richfield, he was a member of the Sevier Valley Dinosaur Squadron. He also served in the Civil Air Patrol and the National Guard. In addition to his love of aviation, Steve was an avid hunter, enjoying deer, elk, pheasant, and duck hunting. Steven’s family fondly remembers many cherished moments, including family dinners at Churchill’s Fish and Chips, Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, and A&W, as well as the love and warmth he shared with them throughout his life. He will be remembered for his generosity, strong work ethic, and the love he gave to everyone he met. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Viola; children: Mark (Dawn) Blomquist, Kevin (Kresta) Blomquist, Shanna (Dave) Bradford; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. 

Steven was preceded in death by his father and mother, Reed and Virginia Blomquist; siblings: Phyllis, Phillip, Kathryn, Janet, Alan; and sisters-in-law: Mignon, Laurel, and Sara Lou.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 12:00 Noon in the Richfield 3rd Ward Chapel, 985 S 400 W. A viewing will be held at the church from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military honors. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Steven’s legacy of love, service, and hard work will live on through his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
