Steve Dobkins, of Steelville, MO, was born on Friday, August 22, 1958, in Steelville, MO, to James Lloyd Dobkins and Sharon Marie Dobkins, nee Center. He passed away at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, MO, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the age of 66 years, 9 months and 2 days.
Steve graduated from high school in Lodge Grass, Montana. He immediately joined the United States Navy where he served on the ships, Parsons and Enterprise. Once returning home, he worked various jobs, lastly as an equipment operator at Walmart in Arkansas. Steve was a talented artist, that enjoyed drawing his funny pictures and most of all, wood carving. He was a skilled carpenter and liked to build whatever he could out of wood. He was a storyteller and liked the outdoors. Most of all, Steve loved kids, time with family and was proud of his service in the Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Lloyd Dobkins.
Steve is survived by his loving mother, Sharon (husband Bill) Payne of Steelville, MO; special friend, Sue Robertson of Steelville, MO; step daughter, Becky of Cassville, MO; grandson, Bailey of Cassville, MO; brothers, Jim (wife Becky) Dobkins of Colstrip, MT and Will (wife Jamie) Dobkins of Ava, MO; nieces and nephews, Tyler Dobkins of Colstrip, MT, Chelsea (husband Dakota) Runyon of Marshfield, MO, Aengus "AJ" Dobkins and Sammy Dobkins both of Ava, MO; other relatives and friends.
The family chose cremation as his final disposition. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project (Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516)
