Steve Mitchell Dowling

Steve Mitchell Dowling, 64, of Lake Park, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Valdosta on November 6, 1958 and has been a life-long resident of this area. Steve had been a plant manager with Union Tank Car in the past and was currently working as a private contractor/consultant in railroad tank car maintenance. Steve was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, neighbors, or anyone in need. He was quite the handy man and was known as Mr. Fixit to the many friends and neighbors he helped with home projects. He thoroughly enjoyed being in the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, and being at one with nature. Steve also served as vice-president of the Enoch Lake HOA, and was an active member of Oak Grove church of Christ in Jennings, Florida.
Steve is survived by his wife, Debbie Dowling of Lake Park; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kyle and Megan Dowling of Lanesville, Indiana, and Tyler Dowling of Lake Park; his grandchildren, Madelynn Dowling and Mitchell Dowling of Lanesville, Indiana; his parents, Jack and Maggie Dowling; brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Christy Dowling; sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Ernie King all of Lake Park; a brother, Joel Dowling of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his grandparents, James and Susie Dowling, and Ed and Hattie Starling.
Services for Steve Mitchell Dowling will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Mr. Phillip Owens officiating. The burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jennings, Florida. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
