Steve M. Gaylor

Stephen Michael "Steve" Gaylor, age 65, of Midland, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Steve was born on July 2, 1958. He was the son of James Bobby Gaylor and Mary Jeanette Williamson Gaylor. He was the grandson of Edward and Mae Riley Williamson, and James Harold and Addie Gaylor. Steve graduated in 1976 from Glenwood School. He was married in 1982 to Dee Dee Cartledge of Columbus, Georgia.
Steve's favorite pastime was spending time with his dear friends at the cabin in Pittsview, Alabama. He loved the outdoors and was an avid turkey hunter. He was a member of Midland United Methodist Church. Steve never met a stranger; he had a gift for making friends, and he cared deeply for them all, old or new. He was a loyal salesman for Watley Heating & Air for 38 years.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother and father, his father and mother-in-law, Andy and Lil Cartledge, his brother, Jimmy Gaylor, and brother-in-law, David Cartledge.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Dee Dee; son Hunter Gaylor, wife Jennifer of Phenix City; daughter Lindsey Dickson, husband Adam of Columbus; four grandchildren Addie Gaylor (11), Andrew Gaylor (9), Lillian and Laine Dickson (8) who all adored their "Gump". He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Robin Gaylor and Duke Cartledge, and their families.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024, 2:00 pm EST at McMullen Funeral Home in Columbus. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
