Steve H. Gianos, 89; Born in Doriza, Greece; Beloved husband of Georgia (nee Galanis); Devoted father of Harry, Cary, and Kathy (Greg) Giese; Proud Pappou of Nectarios Stavros Giese; Loving brother of the late Nick (Vasiliki) Giannakopoulos, Stamata (the late Yianni) Papadopoulos, Toula (the late George) Demopoulos, Tasia (the late Ted) Kastrantas and Diamando (George) Papachristou; Fond Uncle, to many nieces and nephews, both here and Greece. In 1960 he married the love of his life Georgia, and they remained together for 64 years until his passing. He raised his family with enormous "GREEK PRIDE". Devoted to the church he served for over 20 years at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church parish council. He was Cub Scout Leader, GOYA/Youth Advisor and basketball fan. He was the "SOUVLAKI" maker for many Greek fests. He led Holy Week ushers and always met you with a smile at the candle stand every Sunday at services. A lifelong CUBS fan, he would spend hours defending his favorite team, while flipping burgers, at Pete's Grill in Forest Park, IL, and Rose Restaurant in Roselle, IL. He also was a lifelong member of the Society of Doriza and Enosis Demovaltesioton, where he helped with many projects in his hometown in Greece.
Visitation, Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Salerno's Galewood Chapels 1857 N. Harlem Ave. Chicago. Relatives and friends are asked to meet Wednesday morning for visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral service 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 10050 Ivanhoe St. Schiller Park, IL. 60176.
