Steve Pfingsten Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by E.J. Fielding Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Sep. 8, 2025.
Dr. Steven Pfingsten, D.D.S., a well-known and beloved member of the Covington and Abita Springs communities, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the age of 54. Born February 9, 1971, in Elgin, Illinois, Dr. Pfingsten graduated as valedictorian of his class from Burlington Central High School, accepted the Pat Taylor Scholarship, and relocated to Louisiana. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of New Orleans before earning his Doctoral of Dental Surgery from Louisiana State University in 1997. He worked as a dentist at Abita Dental Care before taking over the clinic over 25 years ago. He took tremendous pride in his profession, humbled that his work literally brought smiles to people's faces. "Doctor Steve" was renowned as a God-loving dentist who cared deeply for his community. He was a champion of youth athletics as a passionate, dedicated soccer and basketball coach for three decades. He absolutely loved music and would spend hours singing and playing the guitar and piano with anyone who would lend their ear or voice to a tune. He was exceptionally good with his hands and could wrench on an engine as proficiently as he could tweak a set of dentures. Steve is survived by his wife, Carri Pfingsten; his children, Haili Abagail Pfingsten, Steven Davidson Pfingsten, and Lillian Grace Marie Pfingsten; his parents, Marsha Faye Pfingsten and Harrison Albert Pfingsten; his stepmother, Charlotte Josephine Pfingsten; and his siblings, Walter Henry Pfingsten, Harrison Max Pfingsten, and Amber Rose Davidson. He was preceded in death by his biological father, Larry Davidson. Steve loved his family fervently, and he extended that love and sense of family to everyone he met. He was the embodiment of The Good Samaritan when he encountered those in need. He was devoted to his missionary work abroad, especially in Romania. He loved bringing people together, forging lifelong bonds amongst the individuals who knew each other through him. There are few people in the Abita Springs and Covington area whose lives haven't been touched by Doctor Steve. And while his passing leaves a feeling of emptiness for those who knew and loved him here on Earth, we can all rest assured knowing that if there wasn't foosball in Heaven, there is now. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Lakeshore Church, 15261 Brewster Road, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. E. J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington, Louisiana, is honored to be entrusted with Dr. Pfingsten's funeral arrangements. Every once in a while we come across a remarkable person like Steve. Somebody that you become not only a patient but a good friend. He would carry on conversations and things just like you never missed a beat. He was a good man with a genuine heart.

Steve lived his life as a force of nature. He was always finding ways to serve others, and my greatest regret, that I shared with him often, is that I could never do for him as much as he did for me. Going to his office was always a good time, and my conversations with him never left me without something to ponder. He was a true friend, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a servant of Christ. I will miss him, and look forward to when we meet again.

MY WIFE AND I LOVED DR.STEVE. HE WAS A TRUE CHRISTIAN AND A WONDERFUL GENTLEMEN. WE HAVE BEEN GOING TO HIM SINCE WE MOVED TO OUR HOME IN ABITA AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA AND HIS WORK WAS ALWAYS EXCELLENT. HE WILL BE DEARLY MISSED FOR HIS COMPASSION AND FAITH.

My sincere condolences to his wife, Carri and his children and family. It was a shock to hear about his passing but I know he is up in heaven playing his guitar and Worshipping the Lord. He made an impact on me as a new member at His Courts of Praise. He was very respectful, and friendly. He was down to earth. Comfort to his family.
