Steve M. Shimon, age 70 of Hartford, Wisconsin, Entered Eternal Life Sunday, February 25, 2024.
The most important thing in Steve's life was his faith in Jesus. It was this faith that guided him to be the kind, humble, selfless and generous person he was. He dedicated his life to the service of others.
Steve earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire and soon after received his degree in funeral service, becoming the 3rd generation funeral director in the Shimon family. Early on in his career he worked at Harder Funeral Home in Brookfield, and in 1987 he relocated to Hartford and began working at the Matener-Schramka Funeral Home where he worked diligently until he felt God was leading him to start his own firm.
In February of 1998 Steve opened the doors of Shimon Funeral Home where he continued to pour his heart into the community during their time of need, going beyond to serve each family to the best of his ability. He had a servants heart, and the long hours, nights, weekends and holidays never deterred his love for serving others.
Steve loved his family, spending time with his grandkids and going to all their various sporting events and programs. He will forever be remembered for his big smile, kind words and just being one of the nicest people one could ever meet.
Steve loved walking his loyal companion and faithful friend Henry throughout Hartford and his daily calls with his brother Greg. He enjoyed playing Bags, golfing, running, going for bike rides and most recently freeze-drying items from his garden. He always had a project going and was an active member of the community constantly volunteering to help with something.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda, treasured children Zak (Rachel), Matt (Holly) and Mike (Amy), cherished grandchildren Owen, Noah, Blake, Ellie, Harper, Anderson, Beckham and Olivia, siblings Mary (Rick) Berger, Judy Bouchonville, Pam Koleas, and Greg (Deb) Shimon and siblings-in-law Debbie (Greg) Fahey, Jeff (Kathy) Nennig, Beth (Steve) Sutherland, and mother-in-law Ann Nennig. Further survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Harriet (nee Torrison), father- in-law Ron Nennig, and beloved pal Henry.
Family will greet relatives and friends Monday, March 4, 2024, 3:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street, Hartford, WI 53027.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, committal to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford, WI.
Contributions in memory of Steve and his steadfast faith and love of God, are appreciated to Fort Wilderness, McNaughton, WI.
