Steve Douglas Simonds

Steve Douglas Simonds, age 64, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026 in Battle Creek, Michigan.

He was born December 29, 1961, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a son of John and Clara (Little) Simonds.

Steve graduated from Climax-Scotts High School with the class of 1980. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Steve went to work for the government for over 25 years. Steve worked as a management and program analyst for the Defense Logistics Agency at the Federal Center. He was an active board member of The Sportsman's Club of Battle Creek.

Steve attended the Battle Creek Christian Reformed Church and served as a Deacon. He later attended First Wesleyan Church of God. Steve loved spending time with his grandson, family, and friends. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed shooting during his free time.

Steve is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kim (White) Simonds as well as his two children, Emily (Steve) Staple, and son Zachary Simonds. One grandchild, Luke Staple. Sisters Mary (Ted) Conklin, and Janice (Scott) VanderVeen.

Visitation will be held at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, Friday, January 30th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 30th at 2:00pm at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service in Battle Creek, MI with pastor Duane Nieuwsma officiating. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Steve's memory to either Talons Out Honor Flight or Veterans Helping Veterans.
