Mary Tolf Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Jan. 27, 2026.
Mary Ann Tolf, 84, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. She was born on September 15, 1941, the daughter of Walton and Dorothy (Pyatte)Crooks. We lost an angel but heaven gained one.

Mary Ann grew up in Battle Creek. She went to school at Lakeview High School, graduating with the class of 1959. Mary Ann met her husband Kenneth, when one of his friends set them up on a blind date together. They were inseparable after that day. His words were " I'm going to marry her." They were married on September 16, 1961. They would spend many years together, laughing and driving each other crazy. Mary Ann and Kenneth traveled to many places. They loved to ride the train together. They once took a trip on a houseboat in Lake Powell. They rented a condo in Golf Shores, Alabama, where they spent a lot of their time. Mary Ann worked for family & Children Services for many years, before becoming a bank teller. She also loved spending time with her little dog, Stevie. Stevie was her shadow.

Mary Ann was known for her sense of fashion. She really loved thrifting and finding deals. She also really loved dancing to music. She loved to take selfies in the car with her daughter, that was "their" thing. She loved to go to Sam's Club with her son Michael and have an ice cream and sit and chat at the cafe there. Mary Ann was always positive, no matter the circumstance. Mary Ann was a very uplifting person, always joyful, sometimes goofy, but always full of positivity. She lit up a room. Anyone that got to meet her always felt blessed. There was just "something" about her. Her favorite saying was " what will be will be."

Mary Ann is survived by her Husband, Kenneth Tolf; Daughter, Kristina Tolf of Battle Creek, MI; Three Sons, Michael Tolf, Mark Tolf, and Matthew Tolf; one Grandchild, Siena Tolf. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Dorothy (Pyatte) Crooks, and Father, Walton Crooks.

A Memorial service will be help at a later date.
