Brother, your so missed.. Words can not describe the feelings we feel for you . Even though its been 3 years today. Thank you for being My Brother

 Steve Zankich

A loving family man, cherished coach and honorable businessman, Steve Zankich unexpectedly passed away on April 13th, 2006, while on a family vacation in Incline Village, Nevada; he was 46. Living a remarkable life, Steve married and is survived by his high school sweetheart, Kim, and their three beautiful children, Nick, 22, Lisa, 19, and Leslie 13. Born January 27, 1960, he was the fourth son of six children of Kay and Kris Zankich of Sunnyvale. They survive him along with his siblings, brothers, Kris and wife, Marlene, Dennis and wife, Liz, John and wife, Jennifer, and sisters, Debby and her husband, Marc Magliocco, and Kathy. He was dearly loved by a vast number of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and extended family, including Devin Schrock, as well as a beloved Godfather and treasured friend. Raised in Sunnyvale, Steve quickly proved himself to be an industrious fellow as a child by working part time as a fruit picker at Mariani's along with his brothers and sisters. As a teenager, he was CCS Champion in Varsity Wrestling and Football at Fremont High School. At De Anza College, Steve was team captain for the school's football team before transferring to San Jose State to continue his college career. Yearning with a creative passion, Steve became a general contractor and developer at the age of twenty four. He was a frontier in the development of Almaden Valley and Cupertino. He went on to build some of the most detailed and beautiful custom homes in the Santa Clara valley. Even so, his talent for construction was not only in building homes but in building long lasting relationships. Communal interaction was a delight for Steve. He was a proud member of the Am-Slav Men's Club and head of the yearly Cioppino feed; one of many culinary events that Steve loved to participate in. He was an avid supporter of the 11-99 Foundation. One of his favorite pastimes was golf and he did so every chance he could at the Almaden Valley Country Club, where he has been a member for many years. Everyone who knew Steve saw the glimmer of delight in his eyes as he coached his children on their little league, soccer and softball teams. In recent years, softball became the highlight of his days. He loved coaching his 'girls' and was on the board of the Los Gatos-Saratoga Girl's Softball League. He even happily made sure to maintain the softball field at Foothill Elementary School. Community service had always been a focal point for Steve. With all three of his children attending St. Mary's Catholic School in Los Gatos, Steve was always there to build the cubbies and paint the gym for the school. He was never too busy to lend a hand to family or friends in need. Living everyday as if it might be his last, Steve's love of life was evident in every step he took. From his marriage to raising his children to supporting his community, friends, and family, Steve was the epitome of God's gift to the world. Everyone has a purpose in life and Steve's was to be a mentor. The world has lost a great man and he will be sorely missed by all those that loved and knew him. His Memorial is to be held Saturday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church at 219 Bean St. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to: Steve Zankich Memorial Foundation, 1754 Technology Drive, Suite 240, San Jose, CA 95110. This foundation has been established to provide financial support to local individuals in need. An annual golf tournament will begin next year.
