Steven "Steve" Claude Bailey, 64, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on February 21, 2025. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 24, 1960 to Winston Claude Bailey and Geraldine Bailey. He was married to Merlene Bailey for 35 years.
Steve had a career in commercial fishing. He was the owner and captain of the Me Too 662410. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and had a passion for hunting and fishing.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Winston Claude Bailey; mother, Geraldine Bailey; sister, Dayna Broxson.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Merlene Bailey; son, Nicholas Cain (Kristen) Bailey; daughter, Star Savannah Bailey Super; step daughter, Cayce (Robert) Forte.
Steve never met a stranger. He was a fisher of men. Always believed in the importance of being a blessing to anyone in need. We shared 35 wonderful years together. We spent the beginning of our lives canoeing and tubing on Cold Water Creek, when the children were young. Throughout Steve's life, he worked with his father, Winston Claude Bailey, in produce. He later learned the art of meat cutting at Winn Dixie with Don Hudson as his mentor. He became a Welder and Iron worker and had the pleasure of building at NAS Pensacola. His passion was always fishing. He commercial fished and became the captain and owner of the Me Too 662410. After retiring from the Gulf of Mexico, he began a tree service. There wasn't much of anything this man couldn't do. His final days were spent with me on his hunting property. Always busy planting green fields and spreading corn. His love for his land and his wildlife is his legacy and he will forever be missed. My thanks and gratitude are to Jake Stone and Doug Corbin for all their help on our land. He loved the two of you.
