Steve was born on June 13, 1941 in Lewellen to Samuel and Lola Bernice (Roberson) Bradley. He was the 12th child of 15. He attended Lewellen Rural High School where he excelled in all sports and enjoyed competing with his friends. He graduated in 1960. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp for four years. One of the highlights of his service was providing security for Astronaut Walter Schirra aboard the USS Kearsarge.

He returned home after serving and later married Lois Taylor. With this union, he gained two daughters, Cheri and Shelli. Later, Stephanie and Stephen completed the family. After working at Lewellen Grain for a short time, Steve started working for Union Pacific Railroad. He worked his way up to track foreman and after a career of 35 years, he retired.

Steve loved Lewellen. He was born, raised and lived his life there. He loved his friends and family. They brought him great joy and many shared memories.

Steve was known to dabble in the tasting of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Sometimes he dabbled a little, sometimes he dabbled a lot. You could often find him sitting at the “Table of Knowledge” at the Oregon Trail (OT’s), visiting with old and new friends.

Steve’s favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, collecting arrowheads and repairing guns and fishing gear.

Steve will be missed by daughters Cheri (Steve) Horne, Shelli (Kevin) Shepherd, Stephanie (Don) Leeper; grandchildren Mark Boone, Kenny Boone, Jennyfer (Fernando) Rosado, Ashley (Adam) Haack, Bryan Bruns, Gabriel (Stephanie) Bentley; great grandchildren Bobby Boone, Lily Haack, Lexie Bruns, Atticus Haack, Taylor Boone, Theodore Haack, Jase Bentley, Finn Haack, Caden Bentley, Maverick Bentley; sisters Dixie Lehmann, Carole Varley, Jan (Dick) Cranmore, Sue (Gary) Custer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his beloved son Stephen; parents; siblings infant brother Glen, Sam, Jean, Joan, Glee, Glenna, Skip, Bunny, Kelly, Jim; grandson Benjamyn; and ex-wife Lois Bradley.

We will miss Steve’s love, his sense of humor, his presence in our lives.

We are grateful to his friends, the community and the doctors and nurses at Garden County Health Services. You all helped make his life better.
