Steven Clay Brewer passed away on June 6, 2025. He went to join Katherine "Kitty" Brendle Brewer, his true love, best friend, and wife of 48 years, who preceded him in death. He was born on May 29, 1951 in Winston-Salem to Clay Harding Brewer and Nancy Frances James Brewer, both now deceased, as is his stepfather, Charles Booker Wilkinson. He is survived by his siblings Wayne (Cindy) Brewer of Lumberton, NC, Beverly (Mark) Whan of Winston-Salem, NC, and Alvin (Theresa) Brewer of Kernersville, NC.

He leaves five children:

Lori (Dan) Genevieve of Boonville, NC, Matteson Brewer of Winston-Salem, NC, Stephanie Strucinski of Winston-Salem, NC, John (Marisol) Brewer of Puerto Rico, and Annie (John) Ruemker of Bahama, NC, as well as eight grandchildren, and also three adopted children, Ceana Legacki Strong, Thomas "Tommy" Legacki, and Janet Danahey.

Steve was a true Renaissance Man. He was a painter, craftsman, inventor, philosopher, therapist, engineer, draftsman, artist, and strategist. He enjoyed brewing his own beer and mead. He was everything a man should be: a provider, a protector, a loving, patient father who home-schooled his children and was an amazing husband and best friend to his wife.
