Steven L. Briggs

Age 66, of New Lenox, IL, passed away peacefully on the evening of July 15, 2025, at 7:42 p.m. at the University of Chicago Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Born on August 31, 1958, in Joliet, IL, Steve lived a full and hardworking life marked by humor, love, and dedication to those around him. He was a proud and skilled member of Local 597, working as a pipefitter and welder for over 40 years.

Steve was the beloved husband of 43 years to Kimberly Briggs (Heintzelman), and the proud father of three sons: Daniel (Nichole), Brian (Christina), and Adam (Meaghan). He was the cherished grandfather of five: Joey, Jacob, Joanna, Kylie, and Emma.

He is survived by his loving mother, Joan Brooks, and her husband/"new-dad" Gene. His brother, Michael Briggs (Carol); and his sister, Cristy Blair (Myron). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Billie Briggs, and his grandparents.

He will be remembered for his carefree spirit, his quick wit, and his ability to light up a room with laughter. Steve loved classic rock-especially the band Kiss-cruising with Kim, fishing, and camping. He was always cracking jokes, finding joy in the moment, and making everyone around him smile.

His legacy of laughter, love, and loyalty lives on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at Carlson Holmquist Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory 2320 Black Rd. Tuesday, July 22nd at 6:00 PM. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until time of services.
