Steven David BURKY

Steven David Burky, 44, entered into eternal rest and peace on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at his home in Austintown. He was born on April 26, 1971 to David and Karen (Adair) Burky in Youngstown. He graduated from Jackson-Milton High School in 1989. As a high school student he won many distinguished awards at the YSU English Festival from 1984-1988: including 5th place for the Candace Gay Memorial Awards in Writing. He attended Kent State University and then later enlisted in the U.S. Navy. While at Kent State, he was employed by Fine Line Productions as an Artist, drawing superheroes, cartoon characters, and tattoo designs. Steven was also employed by Unique Silkscreening. While Steven was in the U.S. Navy, he completed his Seaman Recruit Training in San Diego, CA and his advanced training as a Medic in Pensacola, FL. He also was honored to serve in the U.S. Navy Military Band. He recently attended ITT Technical Institute for his Associate Degree in Nursing. Steven was an avid reader, writer, and artist. He was a great conversationalist, had a very bright mind, quick wit, and could bring laughter into any room. Steven is survived by his parents; his two siblings, Jon (Roxann) Burky, and Kristin (Scott) Shelley; his nephews, Colin and Ryan Burky, and Jason Shelley; his niece, Kelsie Shelley; his uncle, David (Susan) Adair; and his aunt, Joann (Ray) Shaffer. Friends and family may call on Sunday, February 21st from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 22nd at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, Youngstown. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
