Steven A. Cake

Age 70 of Millsboro

Passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026.

Steven was born on April 14, 1955 the 5th child of Norman B. and Stella Cake. He grew up in Wilmington with his seven siblings and graduated from Pierre S. DuPont High School. Steven was a dedicated craftsman and had an accomplished career in the Auto Body Industry. He started at John's Body Shop before moving to Rudy's Body Shop, from which he retired.

Steve was a simple man who loved to fish, loved his dog, and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He moved to Sussex County after retiring in the home he built for himself.

He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer shortly after retirement. He spent all his time fighting to keep going. His journey of three and a half years had their ups and downs, but he would say "I want to live". His wonderful friends who assisted in helping and watching over Steve will not be forgotten.

In addition to his father, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Robert.

He will be greatly missed by his mother Stella Cake; his six siblings, Ronald Cake (Barbara), Sabie Strzala (Edward), John Cake (Patricia), Stella Jeronis (John), Donna Prado (Rayf), and Judy Cake. Steve is also survived by his 11 nieces and nephews, one great nephew, four great nieces, one great great nephew, one great great niece, and his beloved dog Queenie, who will miss him dearly and remain part of the family.

Relatives and friends are invited the attend Celebration of Life Service at Krienen- Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Thursday, Jan 8 at 12:00pm. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00am-12:00pm. Interment will take place privately.
