Steven Carroll Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metropolitan Funeral Service - Portsmouth Chapel on Feb. 18, 2026.
Steven Craig Carroll, Sr., 66, of Norfolk, Virginia, peacefully transitioned from this life on January 4, 2026. He was born April 6, 1959, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Joann Patricia Moody and was raised with deep love and devotion by his grandmother, Ira J. Carroll.
Steven was educated in the Portsmouth Public School system and proudly graduated from Manor High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army, where he honorably served for 13 years, including service during the Gulf War. Throughout his military career, Steven was stationed at various bases around the world and served his country with dedication, pride, and honor.
Following his military service, Steven built a successful career and recently retired from Tecnico Corporation, where he served as a supervisor. He was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to excellence.
Steven was known for his infectious sense of humor, friendly spirit, and compassionate heart. He was protective of his family, proud of their accomplishments, and always willing to lend a helping hand. His warmth, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children: Steven Carroll, Jr., Natalie Geiger, and Sanai Alston; his brother, Joe Moody, III; his stepfather, Joe Moody, Jr.; his loving aunts: Velma Boyd, Delores Reed, and Marilyn Ortega (Jose); his uncle, Reginald Carroll (Patricia); along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Steven was preceded in death by his mother, Joann Patricia Moody; his grandmother, Ira J. Carroll; his brother, Emile Carr; his cousin and lifelong brother at heart, Roderick Carroll; his aunts, Georgia Gray and Linda Carroll; and his uncles, William Carroll, Donald Reed, and Howard Boyd, Sr.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in Gods promise:
Let not your heart be troubled I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:13
