Steven Chubbuck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Craig Funeral Home on Apr. 9, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Chubbuck on Sunday, March
31st. Steven was the only son of Linda Chubbuck, the father of Aidan Chubbuck, and the
husband of Jessica Shaw.
Steve was a force of nature. If he wanted to do something, nothing would stand in his way. He
was as determined as he was creative, and if something impossible had to be done, he was
the guy for the job. He had more good ideas in an hour than most people have in a life time.
When he was five years old he built a wind pulley between trees with no adult help whatsoever,
and that became is origin story.
He was not a natural morning person, but would try to wake early enough to cuddle his two
dogs, Annie and Luther, send photos of them to Linda, and sing "the good morning song" with
Aidan. He loved running his Ben & Jerrys scoops shops (never met a flavor he didn't like!). And
was passionate about cultivating mushrooms at Camp Gary Owen, where he and his team
grew mushrooms for local restaurants.
He met his wife in 2015, and made sure he married her as soon as he could convince her it
was a good idea. He knew right away that they had minds and hearts that could build things
together. Their marriage was full of love, and the couple spent many nights solving the worlds
problems and days outside together looking for wild animals.
Steve was an entrepreneur at heart. He could conceptualize and build a business in the space
of a year: A skill that was a wonder to behold. All anyone could do to help was get out of the
way! He could fix anything, and if he couldn't, he knew who could. He also loved doing things
for other people and then telling no one. So much so that after his passing, Jessica received
hundreds of calls from people she did not know to thank him for help she did not know he had
given.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 8th at 10:00am at the Frank Butler County
Park East, 5860 A1A South, Saint Augustine FL, 32080. This is located South of the Mary street
Beach access ramp. A family luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers, Linda, Jessica and the family have asked that contributions be made to:
Veteran's Council of St. Johns County, Inc. PO Box 2117, Saint Augustine FL 32085
